Observation Tasks 5 and 6: Different learning styles and differentiation – ‎General observations


Focus: On the learner.


 

Objective:  The student teachers will observe and report on how learners are different. 

 

 Observing the class for 1 hour.  Take notes. And answer the following questions  

 

1.     What do you notice? Who are the students who answer the questions? Who are the students who are quiet? Who are the students who are not focused?

 

There are 20 students in class KG2B most of them active and they answer the questions. Asaeial, Sultan, Wedema salem ,  rahaf, maharah, wadhaa ,thabia ,shamah and Hamdan. The students who are quite wadema hmood , Mohammed Hassan, sabhaa, al manawer and fatima .in the other hand there are a few of students who is not focused like, fasal , , suhail , naser, tabaza, mohammed mhana  and abdul rahaman .

 

2.     Are there learners who finish activities quickly?  What do they do when they have finished?

Yes, first they show it to the teacher then they ask for another task to do.

 

3.     Are there learners who do not finish a task(s)?  How does the teacher deal with them?

Yes there are some of them, the teacher asks them to keep it and finish it later. 

 

 

4.     Are there any learners with special needs?  What kind of special needs do you think they have? How does the teacher deal with them?


  No , in KG2B there are no special needs learner.

 

5.     How does the teacher manage learners with different levels/abilities?

 

While she arrange them for their tasks she help them to choose the task which suitable for their abilities and levels

 

When you have made your notes, ask the teacher to help you choose a lower level student in the class.  Observe one of the learners for the rest of the day and make notes.

Teacher gives out them an activity to show her the main character of the story they choose to read.
Suhail is not working on the activity and he is finding it difficult.

suhail is joining in with her friends and is playing the game.

 

After the observation


 

1.  How many different activities did the learner do?
Between 3 and 4 activities each day.

 

2.  How did s/he interact with the other learners throughout the day?
Sometimes stay alone but sometimes he starts to talk while the teacher is talking.

 

3.  What was the longest period of time the learner spent focusing on one activity? One of the activities the teacher ask him to count the coins she but it on the table it’s just 8 and he find it difficult and stay for more than 5mints counting.

 

4.  What did the learner do during the break times?

He eats and plays.

 
5.  What did the learner’s attention span / interest during activities seem like?

Suhail interest to play with cars more and puzzle even if he does it in a wrong way

 

6.  What did the learner seem to like doing the most / least during the day?

Suhail like to play most than to stay in the circle where the teacher give them the instructions and the lesson.
