Teaching Practice NOV 2015- AL Awael Kindergarten- Journal Notes 3

Journal Notes 3

Today it was very interesting for me because I learn a whole lesson from the routine part then introduce letter P then read the story with them. So it was exciting. They have five centers and each center have a special activities related to their lesson plan during this week. First of all I did the routine songs with them then I review the letters A, T and S after that I introduce the letter p for them and show them a pictures that start in the letter p such as popcorn, pirate and penguin when we finish this part I tell them to go to their centers then I site with the focus group to learn them how to write the letter P then we they back to the carpet area and I read a story. The most interesting activity is when they sing songs because they like this part and they bay attention and sing with the song. My target for that is that to make them engaged and active for whole the lesson and I want them to do their activities, I feel I achieve more than the half of the way I did very well in the songs then in when I gave them instructions about the letter P how to write it I have a problem that the instruction I gave them is not clear so I need to make it more easier for them to understand related to their cognitive development at this age. As a teacher when I want to have a good result with the KG students I need to give them the instructions in a very simple and clear language so they will understand it better and do better because they are ready to learn in this age but they need a simple way related to their cognitive development.

The theme of this week is about my country so they did some activities related to this subject they make a corner about UAE the students bring  some traditional clothes and materials, also they have a cards with pictures related to UAE and the teacher ask them to watch it then draw it as they see it, another activity for this week is that the teachers in the tabor wear their traditional clothes and talk about their countries some from America like miss Kamaria others from UK , Egypt and Netherlands, furthermore they sing songs related to their countries it was excited for both teachers and students. During the activities the teacher distribute the students related their same interests and mix them high level and low level so they can learn from each other then she  go around the  centers to check them and give them feedback about their work . she also have the focus group which she make the evaluation for the students she pick up 4 students every day so she can assets  them without the interruption from other students.

Journal Notes 2

Today I am very happy because I did the activity part it’s about math counting numbers (1-10) my teacher come to observe me and she give me feedback about my lesson but in general it was good. I feel that I understand more about how to be a teacher for KG students which they need a lot of patient and how to manage the class and the time to make them interested and    active for the activities I plan for the lesson. The activity I did about math because they have in their lesson plan this week about how to count from (1 -10) their previous knowledge is that they know how to count but they can’t recognize the numbers. First I show them the number cards and they already know some of the numbers until 7 but the other numbers they cannot recognize it because they didn’t have it yet. Then I put cards for them each student have a number and I put another number card on the ground and tell them go to find your correct number card which match with their card. I really feel happy because they like the activity and do it as I plan for. My teacher Kamaria uses many activities about math and I like these activities because it makes math more interesting and easier for their age. For my own personal target for TP this semester is to learn more activities make the lesson more interesting and learn more strategies about these activities and related to what they learn and make the lesson more active. I need to focus next time about how to give the students the instructions clearly and simple for their age. So the role of teacher is how she introduces the knowledge to the students in a simple and effective way.

At the end of each day the teacher have a feeling of happiness and proud   of her students. The second weed they have in science about five senses we went to the park to have a lesson about my senses and try to related to their lesson about my senses and she bring for them different kinds of food so they can test it and say if it’s sweet, salty and they said if they like it or not. These activities make the lesson more interesting and active for them.  During the activates some of students they talk or not paying attention to the teacher the teacher use the traffic light board the students didn’t like to be at the yellow because they know it is not good, when the teacher tell them they will be in the yellow they became quiet and if she really put them they feel upset.  As a teacher she have evaluation from the HOF and she must to develop herself and knowledge also they way of teaching and how to use the new technology in teaching

My general  feeling on the TP that I understand more about how to be a teacher for KG students which they need a lot of patient and how to manage the class and the time to make them interested and active for the activities I plan for the lesson. They have many activities during their day, Every day they have the same routine activities especially in the morning after tabor they have the songs for the letters in Arabic and English then the days of the week the only change in some activities related to the lesson plan and what they have for this week the theme of the week. It is exciting to do the routine with theme because it all songs and the children like it. When I did the opening it was about my five senesces I explain to them about it by asking them about the pictures and how it is related to the senesces like the picture of the eyes, ears and mouth. Compare this with previous TP experience. I like when she put them in the centers she put their pictures on the tables and every child knows his place from his picture in my opinion it’s very effective way so they will not make noise because every child know his place. For my own personal target for TP this semester is that to make lesson in full of active and can get the students attention because they are KG1 it’s very difficult to make them interesting in a lesson because they feel bored easily. As a teacher it is very important to manage all aspects of the school , because If I manage in a good way I can do my role of teaching in a perfect way which help the students to have good environment of studying and that’s’ reflect their results and knowledge. If I compare between my previous TP and now I thank her I get more knowledge because I practice teaching as a teacher  and this gives me the opportunity to realized that how teaching will be excited if I know how to attract the students to the subject

Teacher kamaria is the English teacher  for KG1 E she feel very happy after each day because she like  her job of teaching  even if it’s sometimes difficult and tired because they are very young naughty and active.  In the first week they here theme for that week is” all about me “their teacher ask them to draw a picture for themselves then she put this pictures on the display panel. Also she ask them to draw a picture for one of their family like father, mother, grand father, mother then paint it. The most interesting activity is when the teacher communicate with the children the way she song with them and give them the instructions it is simple and clear and Appropriate for their age and cognitive development. She likes to put them in group because she feels that they will understand more and learn from each other because they like to Imitates each other.  Even teachers learn from their students they learn every day new things. As a teacher she learn how to be patient and how to communicate with different group of people as a teachers or parents or children which they came from different environment and thoughts traditions so the communication for the teacher is the main tool for education to understand them and their needs and the way they learn is the key.

TASK 5: Learning styles

Make notes about activities you observe in the classroom which use the learning styles below:

Math
Science
Reading
Other
Auditory
ü
ü
ü

Visual
ü
ü
ü

Kinesthetic
ü
ü
ü

Answer the following questions:
Which learning styles did all the children seem to enjoy and why?

They enjoy Kinesthetic, because in this age they have a lot of energy and they like to play and move so if they move and play they feel interesting more than sitting and listening also if they didn’t move they feel bored. On the other hand some of them like visual so if they see the letters or the story they will memories it better

Why do you think the teacher incorporates a variety of learning styles for the children?

I think the teacher incorporates a variety of learning styles because she has different children interests and skills not all the children the same. Also their cognitive development play a main role in this age the way of learning is different from child to another depend on their environment they live.

Notices which activities are repeated with a variety of learning styles e.g. read a story, listen to a story, act the story, and draw the story. Can you find other examples e.g. math or science

They have the corners with different activities such as computer and listening corner, make believe play corner , manipulative center, play with arts corner  also songs.
They have all the chance to try all this corners because the teacher change the students every day so we can see different learning styles for each student and what he like more and try to engage him with other students and sheared the skills and learn from each others.

How can teachers improve student learning by using a range of learning styles?

The teacher can improve student learning by using range of learning styles that’s match with students interests and skills she also have to know more about what they like and dislike so she can use the benefit style also she need to make range of learning styles so the students didn’t feel bored.
